Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has escalated her claims of copyright infringement, vowing to take legal action after alleging that her intellectual property was stolen.
In a detailed Instagram post, Ademoye explained that she initially took down her previous posts on the matter following advice from her management. The controversy began when she discovered that monetisation had been removed from her movie Where Love Lives.
According to Ademoye, a song she fully owns and used with the artist’s approval was allegedly claimed by an individual identified as Emmanuel Davies, who filed copyright claims that redirected the movie’s revenue to himself.
“I’m not an irresponsible person. I do all my due diligence before uploading a movie, and I pay for all the soundtracks I use. Why one person would steal my song and claim it as their own, I don’t know,” she wrote. Ademoye said she has reported the matter to the authorities and intends to pursue justice until the individual is held accountable. She also called on the public to provide any information on Emmanuel Davies via email to aid the investigation.
The actress referenced a previous copyright dispute with another individual, Anwuli, over her film To Be a Friend. She rejected an out-of-court settlement at the time, insisting the case proceed legally, which resulted in the loss of a film that had garnered over six million views.
Determined not to repeat past losses, Ademoye reaffirmed her commitment to resolving this current issue through the courts, stressing that she will not relent until justice is served.
