Nollywood veteran Abiodun Ayoyinka, best known for bringing the iconic Papa Ajasco character to life, has opened up about his financial hardships in an emotional interview with Lucky Udu.

Ayoyinka revealed that he doesn’t own the rights to the character that made him famous. The role is trademarked by the production company, meaning he must seek permission to use it for commercials, endorsements, or personal projects. He explained:

“That particular character has been registered. Anybody who wants to use me outside, they want to use me with the character… But it has never been easy for me. That’s why you don’t see me in adverts. You don’t see me on billboards. So it’s painful.”

The veteran actor, who retired five years ago from the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, described his post-retirement life as extremely challenging, noting that he currently has no car or house of his own. He appealed to fans and the public for support.
