
Award-winning British rapper Tinie Tempah has revealed his Igbo heritage, attributing much of his creativity and talent to his ancestry.
In a video shared on YouTube, Tempah highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of Igbo creatives, including literary icons Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, whose works have won global recognition like the Bookerman Prize.
“I am from the Igbo tribe, and I truly believe there’s something intrinsically creative about Igbo people,” Tempah said. “Growing up, I noticed how many talented Black authors from Nigeria, especially Igbo, have gained worldwide acclaim. My talent and creativity are deeply tied to my heritage, lineage, and origin — and that’s beautiful.”
The rapper’s revelation has sparked pride among fans, celebrating the impact of Igbo culture on global art and creativity.
