Veteran singer and activist Charles ‘Charly Boy’ Oputa has fired a scathing critique at Nigerian pastors, claiming that most prioritize profit over moral leadership.
Speaking on the KAA Truths podcast, the Area Fada crooner accused clerics of staying silent amid Nigeria’s economic hardships and security challenges, suggesting that many collaborate with corrupt politicians to exploit the public.
“All the pastors I know in Nigeria, 99 percent of them are useless. It’s just a business they’re running,” Charly Boy said. He added that despite living in Nigeria, he doesn’t think or act like most citizens and refuses to be swayed by the sanctimonious antics of some religious leaders.
“I may live in Nigeria, but Nigeria does not live in me. I come from a different space and time,” he concluded, reaffirming his reputation as a fearless social commentator.
