
The family of the late Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene, also known as Nanyah, has released details of her funeral following her tragic death from a snakebite at her Abuja residence on January 31, 2026.
Her brother, Kingsley Nwangene, shared the arrangements on Instagram (@official_kaybaba1), posting her obituary along with the message: “Till I see you again.”
The funeral schedule is as follows:
- Service of Songs: February 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule Oshun, Dansa, Lagos, starting at 4 p.m.
- Requiem Mass: Same day at 6 p.m.
- Burial: February 14 in her hometown, Enugu State.
- Thanksgiving Service: February 15 to celebrate her life and legacy.
Ahead of the funeral, the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society Choir held a tribute concert at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, in honour of Nanyah’s contributions to the city’s classical and contemporary music scene.
Her remains have already been transported to Enugu State, where her father resides. The choir described her passing as a significant loss to Abuja’s growing music community.
