ctress Rita Edochie has publicly called out Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo over the persistent lack of pipeborne water in the state, particularly in Onitsha.
In an Instagram post, Rita reminded followers that during Soludo’s re-election campaign, he promised to restore the state’s water supply. She noted that water briefly flowed during the campaign, easing the struggles of residents who had relied on private boreholes. However, she claims the taps stopped running soon after his victory.
Rita wrote:
“During the last campaign that brought back the incumbent, Professor Charles Soludo, we were enjoying pipeborne water. It helped ease the suffering of residents of Onitsha. Today, we are back to square one — the taps are dried up, and the campaign promises are gone with the wind.”
She also criticized politicians broadly for making promises they don’t keep and urged Soludo to take the necessary steps to restore water, noting that preliminary information suggests some minor actions are needed to resume supply, which have allegedly been brought to the governor’s attention.
Rita concluded with a plea on behalf of Onitsha residents:
“I plead that His Excellency Governor Charles Soludo should re-enact the campaign magic so the taps can become functional once more. We are suffering — no steady power supply and no pipeborne water, both essential for life.”
The actress closed her post with warm regards to her fans, urging prayers while emphasizing the importance of essential services for the community.
This public criticism has sparked conversations about political promises and basic infrastructure delivery in Anambra State.
