Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has shared a heartfelt tribute to Funke Akindele’s late mother, recalling how the doctor once intervened to protect her children, Festus and Priscilla.
In an Instagram post, Iyabo described the late doctor as exceptionally kind and prayerful, noting that her support extended far beyond professional duty. She credited the doctor’s care with preventing a potential tragedy during a critical time in her children’s early years.
“A beautiful soul she was. I can never forget, back in 2004, how she treated Festus and Priscilla when they were little. I thought I’d lose them both, but she said, ‘No. Not on my watch,’” Iyabo wrote.
She also highlighted the spiritual guidance and consistent support Funke’s mother provided, even when she and Funke had disagreements. The doctor would always offer reassurance and prayers, telling Iyabo:
“‘Emi o da si ija iwo ati ore re o. One day, e ma settle e. Omo mi nigbogbo yin.’
(My spirit will stand between you and your enemies. One day, it’ll settle. My child, I love you all.)”
Iyabo concluded by describing her as “a mother to all” and expressed enduring gratitude and love for her:
“A great doctor she was and an even greater prayer warrior… She was indeed a mother to all. I will always love her. Rest on, mama.”
The post stands as a touching tribute to the late doctor’s compassion, care, and spiritual mentorship.
