Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has revealed that she nearly became a pastor at the age of 19, shedding light on her deeply personal spiritual journey during a now-viral livestream interview.
Speaking after her recent reconciliation with ex-husband Olakunle Churchill, the actress said she has felt a divine calling since childhood but deliberately ran away from it, believing God wanted her to experience life fully before stepping into her purpose.
“I have always had this calling right from when I was a child. At 19, I was going to be a pastor until I just ran away for no reason,” she said. “I’ve been in church since I left secondary school. I’ve known God intimately and intensely for as long as I can remember.”
Tonto described her life experiences as far from ordinary, attributing her survival through numerous trials to divine purpose.
“If you watch what has happened in my life, it’s not ordinary. Anybody who may walk in my shoes may not have survived. God needed me to go through all of these things to come out as the firebrand that I am today,” she stated.
The actress further revealed that her calling is centred on prayer and healing, hinting that she may soon launch an online prayer platform—if divinely approved.
“Prayers and healing are my calling. God heals. It depends on what He asks me to do. At this stage of my life, I’m just letting God lead. I’m only a vessel,” she said.
Addressing speculation about monetising her spiritual activities, Tonto made it clear that her faith journey is not about money or fame.
“I didn’t run to God because of money. I’m already rich. I came back to God because I wanted to live, because I wanted to step into the mandate He has for me,” she added.
Tonto Dikeh has previously spoken openly about battling demonic anger, smoking, alcoholism and other personal struggles, crediting God for her deliverance and renewed sense of purpose.
