Nollywood actress Biola Bayo is receiving a wave of support from her colleagues after facing backlash for her recent interview with Baba Ijesha. In the interview, Baba Ijesha spoke about his past sexual assault case, claiming he isn’t a rapist or pedophile—a move that drew public outrage.
Following the uproar, Biola removed the video from her YouTube channel and hid it on Instagram, later posting an apology video. She clarified that she does not, and will never, support a rapist, tendering an apology to Iyabo Ojo and Nigerians.

Biola’s peers in Nollywood quickly rallied behind her. Comments of love and encouragement poured in from Rotimi Salami, Kunle Afod, Jarinola Lola Magret, and Bisola Badmus, among others. Actress Eniola Ajao praised her as “Beauty and brains,” while Fali Werepe and several fans encouraged her to ignore the noise, reminding her that she is blessed and loved.
Bisola Badmus, defending Biola, noted that her strength and kindness set her apart. Lizzy Anjorin also urged Biola to delete the interview promptly to avoid further backlash, warning that failing to do so could lead to exposure of alleged shady dealings.
Context of the Backlash
The controversy stems from a high-profile case in 2021, when Princess accused Baba Ijesha of defiling her 14-year-old ward. In 2022, Baba Ijesha was sentenced to five years in prison for the offense but was released in November 2025 after serving over three years.

The public remains sensitive to the case, which explains the intense scrutiny Biola faced after her interview. Despite the backlash, many of her fellow actors are standing by her, reinforcing the importance of fairness while recognizing her remorse and apology.
