Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has come to the defense of her colleague Aremu Afolayan following the intense backlash over his recent comments about Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Aremu had earlier sparked outrage after a viral video showed him praising the president while appearing indifferent to the country’s current challenges. The remarks didn’t sit well with many Nigerians, leading to heavy criticism online.
Facing mounting pressure, the actor later issued a public apology, admitting that his words were misunderstood and acknowledging the seriousness of Nigeria’s insecurity and economic struggles.
Reacting to the situation, Biodun Okeowo urged the public to show mercy, insisting that Aremu is genuinely remorseful:
“He understands that what he said did not sit well with many of us, and he takes responsibility… Please let’s forgive and stop the curses.”
She added that although she initially found his apology amusing due to his playful personality, she ultimately saw a man who was deeply sober and sorry.
