Impeachment Drama: Presidency Declares Fubara APC Boss In Rivers, Says Wike Has No Say

Presidency settles Rivers APC leadership: Fubara is boss, Wike has no authority

The Presidency has affirmed that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, insisting that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has no standing to speak for the party.

Presidential aide Daniel Bwala said this during a Channels TV interview, stressing that Wike is not an APC member and that impeachment efforts against Fubara must follow due process and existing court orders.

The Presidency has drawn a clear battle line in Rivers State politics, declaring Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the undisputed leader of the APC while dismissing Nyesom Wike’s influence within the party.

Speaking on Channels Television, Daniel Bwala said Wike, despite being a former governor, is not an APC member and therefore lacks the authority to speak for the party.

He warned that impeachment plots against Fubara must respect court orders and the rule of law, adding that President Tinubu will not tolerate political interference in democratic governance.

The Presidency’s declaration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as APC leader in Rivers State signals a strategic move to reinforce party hierarchy and curb factional influence.

Daniel Bwala’s remarks highlight the administration’s insistence on due process amid rising political tension, while also drawing a firm line between party loyalty and personal influence.

By distancing Wike from APC leadership, the presidency appears intent on stabilising Rivers politics and preventing impeachment actions that could undermine democratic norms.
