The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lacks the capacity to resolve the lingering political standoff between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during a church service in a video that has since gone viral, Ibiyeomie described the conflict as beyond political intervention, insisting it is spiritual in nature.
According to the cleric, the crisis cannot be settled by negotiations, reconciliation committees or presidential involvement, stressing that only divine intervention can bring lasting peace.
A Repeating Political Pattern
Ibiyeomie drew parallels with Rivers State’s political history, noting a recurring cycle of political godfathers eventually clashing with their protégés.
He recalled how Rufus Ada George fell out with Peter Odili, who later helped Chibuike Amaechi rise to power, only for Amaechi and Odili to become adversaries. Amaechi, he said, later faced opposition from Nyesom Wike, his former ally.
Now, according to the pastor, the same pattern has resurfaced with Wike and Fubara, warning that history is bound to repeat itself again.
“No Mortal Man Can Solve It”
The cleric maintained that even the presidency has been unable to halt the crisis, reinforcing his view that political solutions alone are ineffective.
“This is not a physical problem. No mortal man can solve the Rivers State problem,” Ibiyeomie said.
“They have tried everything — even the President — and it has not worked. Only God can end it.”
He further warned that if Governor Fubara eventually installs a successor, the same conflict would likely emerge.
A Spiritual Interpretation
According to Ibiyeomie, the consistent breakdown of political alliances in Rivers State points to a deeper issue that transcends governance and party politics.
“If God speaks to me, I will say it. This fight will continue until God intervenes,” he concluded.
