“Benin Drama Deepens!” — DSS Nabs Suspect Over Shocking Attack on Peter Obi

Tension is rising in Edo as Nigeria’s secret police make a major move following the recent political scare in Benin.

The Department of State Services has arrested a man identified as Udeme Sunday Stephen in connection with the attack on Peter Obi and several leaders of the African Democratic Congress in Benin City.

How It Unfolded

The arrest reportedly came after days of investigations into the incident that shook political circles in Edo State. Obi and other party stakeholders were targeted last Tuesday at the residence of ADC chieftain John Odigie-Oyegun.

According to Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, the attack happened shortly after the group returned from the ADC secretariat. The visit had marked the formal reception of former Labour Party governorship candidate Olumide Akpata into the ADC fold.

What was meant to be a strategic political gathering quickly turned into a security emergency.

Political Tension Mounts

While authorities have confirmed the suspect’s arrest, many questions remain unanswered — including whether he acted alone and what may have triggered the incident.

Security agencies are expected to release more details as investigations continue.

For now, the development has intensified conversations around political safety and rising tensions ahead of key electoral activities.

More updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
