Fuji icon Pasuma has reacted to the viral video of gospel singer Busola Oke breaking down in tears, and his words are filled with empathy.
In a recent interview, the veteran musician reflected on how unpredictable the music industry can be. According to him, grace plays a major role in an artist’s journey. He explained that sometimes a song can become a massive hit, yet album sales may not translate into expected financial rewards — leaving performers to depend largely on live shows for income.
Speaking specifically about Busola’s situation, Pasuma noted that music trends evolve. He said the era when her popular track Eleyele dominated the airwaves has passed, as audiences have shifted toward different sounds. He added that any artist still thriving today is doing so by the grace of God because the industry has changed drastically.
The Fuji maestro revealed that Busola is someone he knows personally, which made watching her emotional video even more painful. He stressed that one musician may release a single song and become wealthy for life, while another may release a hit and immediately face pressure to replicate the success.
According to him, whatever financial or contractual disagreements exist between Busola and her former associate are matters only they and God truly understand. But he firmly stated that her current struggles should not be blamed entirely on her.
Busola recently made headlines after opening up about her hardships, announcing her intention to step away from music due to mounting pressure. In an interview with actress Biola Bayo, she revealed she felt lonely, depressed, and financially strained. She disclosed that she currently has no car, owes debts, and struggles with daily expenses, including hotel accommodation costs.
In 2023, she publicly accused colleague Gbenga Adewusi of withholding her earnings after she allegedly rejected his advances. He denied the claims and countered with accusations of his own, further deepening the controversy.
Pasuma’s reaction has sparked conversations about the harsh realities many artists face behind the spotlight. While fame can appear glamorous, he suggests that survival in the industry often depends on timing, shifting trends, and divine grace.
For now, his message is simple: compassion over judgment.
