Nollywood powerhouse Funke Akindele is not slowing down anytime soon! The box-office queen is glowing with gratitude after receiving massive recognition from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) — and the moment was nothing short of iconic.
At a prestigious ceremony held in Lagos, the award-winning filmmaker was celebrated for her record-shattering dominance in cinemas. From winning Box Office Champion for Omo Ghetto to sweeping multiple awards for Everybody Loves Jenifa and her latest smash hit Behind The Scenes, Funke has proven she’s in a league of her own.

Taking to social media, the actress described the moment as “truly special,” expressing deep appreciation to key figures including Dr. Shaibu Husseini and Honourable Hannatu Musawa for the recognition. She also thanked major guilds like AGN, AMP, CEAN, DGN, and RATTAWU for standing by her journey.

But that’s not all — her 2025 blockbuster Behind The Scenes reportedly raked in over ₦2.1 billion within just one month of release, later crossing ₦2.2 billion in total earnings. The film didn’t just dominate locally; it made waves internationally, earning impressive figures across North America and Canada.
Funke also shared a humbling experience of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu watching her film, reminding her that consistency opens doors in unimaginable places. In another emotional highlight, she paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, describing the reception as warm and unforgettable.

Reflecting on her 27-year journey in Nollywood, Funke emphasized that growth comes from stepping outside comfort zones. Her message to young creatives? Dream boldly, stay consistent, and never underestimate the power of hard work.
With awards stacking up and billions at the box office, one thing is clear — the throne isn’t vacant. And according to Funke herself, the journey is far from over. The best, she says, is still to come.
