Former Edo State governor and senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has pushed back against critics of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, insisting that the government never promised Nigerians instant miracles.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, the APC chieftain said Tinubu’s government is focused on deep, structural reforms, not cosmetic changes designed for quick applause.
According to Oshiomhole, although the administration is about two and a half years old, tangible changes are already unfolding daily as a result of deliberate policy shifts.
“We did not promise miracles,” he said. “But in two and a half years of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, something is changing every single day.”
He argued that many of the loudest critics today were the same voices who once demanded a complete break from Nigeria’s old governance style, only to complain now that the president has chosen a radically different path.
Oshiomhole stressed that Tinubu is not merely tweaking policies but dismantling long-standing structural bottlenecks that have held the country back for decades.
“This is not business as usual,” he noted. “The president is not just reforming — he is radically reforming.”
He cautioned Nigerians against judging the administration solely by short-term outcomes, emphasizing that meaningful national transformation takes time, patience, and consistency.
Taking a swipe at opposition figures, Oshiomhole referenced popular arguments about repeating failed systems.
“People used to say you cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Now that Tinubu is doing something totally different, they ask, ‘Why is he reforming?’”
The senator maintained that the real test of the administration should be the direction of its policies and the courage behind its decisions, not unrealistic expectations of overnight success.
