Former Nigerian football star Emmanuel Emenike has slammed the country’s leadership, telling Nigerians that hoping for a better nation under corrupt rulers is pure fantasy.
On Instagram, Emenike didn’t hold back:
“If you believe in a better country in the hands of your oppressors, you are dreaming. Keep going to church and shout ‘fire’ every day; these people don’t care. No more road trips. Kidnapping everywhere. If you talk, they will set you up and arrest you. Individuals are looting money that belongs to everyone. Nigeria has the resources, but many criminals are in power.”
He emphasized the contrast between Nigeria’s abundant resources and the criminality of those in power, noting the lack of respect for families tied to political criminals.
Celebrities have joined in voicing concern over the country’s state:
- Kanayo Kanayo lamented how even dogs overseas live better than Nigerians.
- Davido mourned the kidnapped girls in Kebbi and victims of church attacks in Kwara.
- Toyin Abraham highlighted the deep fear carried by mothers in violent communities.
- Iyabo Ojo called for urgent government action against injustice.
- Wizkid’s son, Boluwatife, declared his generation will not stay silent against fear and oppression.
Emenike’s message is a wake-up call: Nigerians are urged to recognize the harsh reality, stand against corruption, and demand accountability. The post has ignited debates on social media, with many echoing the call for systemic change.
