Aso Rock no just dey host meetings — e dey host moments.
President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening welcomed a long list of state governors to a special Ramadan Iftar dinner at the Presidential Villa in Abuja — a gathering that has now become part of his annual tradition during the holy month.
The closed-door dinner marked the third consecutive year the President is breaking fast with top political leaders at the State House. Governors, deputy governors, ministers and senior officials all gathered under one roof for the symbolic meal.

Among those present were Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Usman Ododo of Kogi, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Mohammed Bago of Niger, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano and Agbu Kefas of Taraba. The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State was also in attendance.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and several cabinet members joined the gathering.
Though details of private conversations were not disclosed, previous Iftar events hosted by the President have often doubled as moments for reflection and political messaging. At last year’s dinner, Tinubu urged governors and ministers to prioritize citizens’ welfare and treat Nigeria as one united family, regardless of ethnic or religious differences.
This year’s meeting continues that pattern — blending spirituality with statecraft.
Sources indicate the President is expected to host more Ramadan engagements with traditional rulers, diplomats and other senior stakeholders before the fasting period concludes.

In Abuja’s power circles, even dinner comes with symbolism. 🌙🇳🇬
