Fresh security tension has emerged in northeastern Nigeria following reports that fighters from Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked a Nigerian Army camp in Adamawa State.

According to security analyst Brant Philip, who shared details via his X account, the insurgents allegedly overran the ‘Garahamojili’ military camp during a fierce 20-minute gun battle.

The attack reportedly led to the de@ths of two soldiers, while the camp was set ablaze. Three military vehicles were said to have been destroyed in the assault, with weapons and ammunition allegedly taken by the attackers.

ISWAP is also reported to have described the raid as part of a broader campaign it calls “Burn the Camps,” a string of coordinated attacks targeting security formations.

If confirmed, this would mark the first known instance of the group directly targeting a Nigerian Army camp in Adamawa State, raising fresh concerns about the evolving security landscape in the region.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident at the time of reporting.
