“Kids Will Slip, Let Them!” David Beckham Breaks Silence Amid Brooklyn Drama

English football legend Sir David Beckham has addressed parenting, mistakes, and social media in a candid interview—days after his son Brooklyn Beckham’s shocking allegations against the family went viral.

Speaking live on CNBC’s Squawk Box on January 20, the 50-year-old football icon emphasized the importance of letting children make mistakes as part of their growth.

“You have to let your children make mistakes,” Beckham said. “That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids—you sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.” He also reflected on the power and danger of social media, noting that while platforms can expose young people to risks, they can also be used for positive impact, like his work with UNICEF.

Beckham highlighted that he tries to guide his children while allowing them space to make decisions, learn, and grow from their experiences.

When asked by broadcaster Andrew Ross Sorkin about living under constant media scrutiny in the UK and the US, Beckham avoided directly addressing the Brooklyn feud. Instead, he praised both countries: “I love living in both places. I love my country, I love where I grew up, but I always wanted to live in America and I love America… I’m lucky that I get to spend a huge amount of time in both places.”

The football legend’s comments arrive at a tense moment for the Beckham family, reminding fans that even in the spotlight, parenting—and learning from mistakes—remains a universal challenge.
