Nigerian superstar David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, has dropped a bombshell on his political ambitions.
The singer revealed that he is no longer eager to dive into politics, citing what he has observed about fellow celebrities who tried—and failed—to make the leap from entertainment to governance.

In a candid Twitch livestream with streamer Davrel, Davido opened up about why his once-burning passion for politics has cooled. According to him, many entertainment stars who switched lanes haven’t fared well, making him wary of risking his hard-earned legacy.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics,” Davido confessed. “But now I see it from a different angle. All my years of goodwill, my career, the fan base we’ve built—it’s tricky. Look at the superstars who tried politics. The transition hasn’t really worked out for most of them.”
The hitmaker added a note of realism: “If you are a politician, you are a politician. It’s a whole business on its own.”

Davido’s revelation underscores a harsh truth about the entertainment-to-politics pipeline in Nigeria: even with fame, clout, and influence, politics is a completely different ballgame—one that doesn’t always favor celebrities.
For now, it seems the OBO empire will continue to dominate music, leaving politics for another day… or perhaps, never. Fans can breathe easy knowing their favorite star is keeping his focus where it counts: entertainment, legacy, and the music that made him a household name.
