In a move that has sent political tongues wagging, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, has officially resigned from his cabinet position. The bombshell was confirmed on Monday by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, in a short but powerful statement.
Tuggar’s exit comes as he sets his sights on the Bauchi State governorship, aiming to make a return to the political frontline. Sources reveal that he is among four ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet expected to step down to chase political ambitions ahead of the upcoming elections.
Speaking earlier, Tuggar’s media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir, confirmed the minister’s intentions, saying, “The minister is interested and aspires to run for the governorship seat of Bauchi State.” He added that Tuggar would strictly follow the INEC timetable for resignations and election procedures.
Hailing from Udubo in Gamawa Local Government Area, Tuggar isn’t new to Bauchi politics, having contested for the governorship before. His resignation marks a major shuffle in Tinubu’s cabinet and adds fuel to the speculation of a heated Bauchi gubernatorial race.
Will Tuggar clinch the governorship this time? Political watchers are already buzzing as the race in Bauchi heats up. Stay tuned.
