People with disabilities advocate and content creator Dorathy Osaronu has opened up about a viral moment that touched hearts nationwide—her exiting an airplane with the help of airline staff. The video, which showed at least five men carefully carrying her through the narrow aisle, left Dorathy profoundly moved.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Dorathy described the experience as unforgettable, saying it showed her what true humanity looks like. For someone with zero mobility, flying is more than just a journey—it’s a test of trust, courage, and vulnerability.
She wrote, “There I was, unable to move on my own, completely dependent on strangers… and yet, in that moment, I wasn’t made to feel helpless. I was lifted with care. Spoken to with kindness and treated with dignity. No rush. No frustration. Just patience, respect, and genuine compassion.”
Dorathy expressed her deep appreciation for the airline staff, stating that their actions reminded her she still belongs in this world exactly as she is. She specifically praised Air Peace for their empathy and professionalism.
In an interview with Punch, Dorathy shared that being in a wheelchair isn’t a death sentence. Her disability began in early childhood after contracting polio, which affected her legs. Growing up, she faced stigma, frequent hospital visits, and nearly dropped out of school, yet she remained resilient. Today, she is happily married and a strong advocate for persons with disabilities, spreading positivity and inspiring countless others.
Dorathy’s story is a powerful reminder that compassion and patience can make a world of difference, especially for those navigating life with challenges.
