Basira Beere explained that she grew up thinking marriage was all about sex, not learning or partnership. She described how her parents misled her, making her believe the “lesson” of marriage was having sex morning and night. In one shocking revelation, she recounted being pregnant without realizing it because she was still having her period. On Valentine’s Day, she was deceived with flowers, only to later discover the pregnancy. Her parents confronted the man involved, who admitted he already knew.
Amid tears, Basira admitted, “I have lost four pregnancies. My parents really misled me. How do I even begin to recount the number of times I’ve had sex? It’s not possible to have been married to these men without them having sex with me. I believed marriage was for sex, not for learning.”
