Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has opened up on why she chose to remain silent about her divorce from ex-husband Patrick Doyle.
Speaking during an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Ireti made it clear that her personal life is not for public consumption. According to her, the only people she owes any explanation to are close family members and those who were present at the beginning of the marriage.
She emphasized that social media audiences often don’t genuinely care, and trying to explain private matters online is pointless. In her words, no one truly “wins” on the internet, which is why she refused to turn her situation into public drama or “clickbait.”
Ireti also shared that the end of any long-term relationship, especially marriage, is always painful. Instead of going online to rant or assign blame, she believes it’s better to focus on healing, self-reflection, and personal growth.

For context, the couple got married in 2004, and their separation was publicly confirmed in 2023. Despite the divorce, Ireti decided to keep the name “Doyle,” explaining that she has built her identity and career around it for nearly three decades.
On his part, Patrick Doyle has since remarried and has stated in interviews that he holds no grudges against his ex-wife, even acknowledging her as a dedicated mother and provider.
