Nigerian comedienne Princess has strongly criticized actress Biola Bayo for betraying colleague Iyabo Ojo in the wake of the Baba Ijesha controversy.
In a passionate Instagram Live, Princess accused Biola of reopening wounds and causing emotional pain by sitting down with Baba Ijesha to discuss his rape allegations, despite Iyabo Ojo’s sacrifices and losses during the case. She called Biola “wicked, insensitive, and a pretender” and said she is leaving her judgment in God’s hands.
Princess highlighted that Biola prioritized views and engagement over integrity, questioning her claim as a rape survivor while supporting a convicted pedophile. She said:
“Biola, you did that interview because it was not your child who was involved… You were only concerned about views and engagement.”
The controversy stems from Baba Ijesha’s interview, where he denied being a pedophile or rapist and expressed disappointment over Iyabo Ojo’s stance. The clip sparked outrage, leading Biola to remove it from YouTube and hide it on Instagram. She later issued a public apology to Iyabo and Nigerians, affirming that she does not, and will never, support a rapist.
For context, Baba Ijesha was sentenced in 2022 to five years in prison for sexually assaulting Princess’s 14-year-old ward. The case caused significant debate in Nollywood, with Iyabo Ojo backing the victim while others, including Yomi Fabiyi, supported Baba Ijesha.
Princess’s reaction reinforces the strong backlash against Biola Bayo’s interview, emphasizing that accountability and empathy should precede media coverage in sensitive cases.
