Heartbreaking words. Raw truth. A son’s painful honesty.
An emotional silence filled the room as Bobby Williams Adeoye, son of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, finally opened up about losing his mother — and his words left many shaken.
Speaking during the service of songs held in her honour, Bobby revealed something unexpected: her death didn’t completely shock him.
Not because he was ready to lose her — but because she had often spoken about death while she was still alive.
According to him, his mum regularly talked about it, sometimes casually, sometimes jokingly, almost as if she sensed something ahead. So when the news finally came, it felt painful — but strangely familiar.
Still, the pain remains heavy.
Bobby described Omije Ojumi as a deeply loving, strong, and selfless woman who poured her entire life into raising him. He said she was not just a mother, but his biggest supporter, constantly pushing him to succeed both at home and in school.
He recalled how she always waited to hear every detail of his day whenever he returned from school — a habit that made him feel seen, protected, and deeply loved.
Beyond her discipline and care, he remembered her joy.
Their home, he said, was always full of laughter. She loved cracking jokes, lifting people’s spirits, and making everyone around her feel alive. That cheerful presence, he admitted, is what he misses the most now.
“When I heard she was gone, I wasn’t completely surprised,” he said softly. “She had always talked about it. But that doesn’t make the pain any lighter.”
In a moment that broke many hearts, Bobby spoke directly to his late mother, saying that even in death, she will never truly be gone — because she lives on in his heart, his dreams, and his memories.
Omije Ojumi, whose real name was Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, passed away on January 12, 2026.
Gone from sight —
but clearly, never gone from love. 🕊️💔
