“Coup Storm Rocks Aso Villa!” — Tinubu Shake-Up as Ex-Gov Sylva’s Kinsman Lands in Military Detention

A Nigerian Air Force officer, Noel Godday Zuzu, has reportedly been locked up by the Defence Intelligence Agency over an alleged plot to unseat President Bola Tinubu — and the drama deepened after his name was linked to former Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Sylva.

Zuzu, a Squadron Leader in the Air Force, is said to be one of several officers arrested quietly in October 2025 during a sweeping security operation that targeted senior military personnel accused of planning a power takeover.

Things took a political turn when armed operatives stormed Sylva’s upscale Maitama home in Abuja as part of the probe. Although the former minister later admitted the raid happened, he flatly denied any involvement, insisting the allegations were nothing more than political witch-hunting. Sources, however, say Sylva has since gone underground.

According to insider accounts, Zuzu — who hails from Bayelsa State — is believed to be related to Sylva and allegedly benefited from the former governor’s influence during his military career. While the exact family link remains unclear, multiple sources insist they are blood relatives.

Before his arrest, Zuzu was reportedly serving at the 053 Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force Camp in Abuja. He is a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, and originates from Agudama in the Niger Delta.

Zuzu’s name appears on a confidential list of 36 detained security personnel, a lineup that reads like a who’s-who of the armed forces: a Brigadier General, Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels, Majors, Squadron Leaders, Navy and Police officers, plus several non-commissioned officers.

The detainees reportedly come from different parts of the country, with a significant number from the North, while only a handful are from the South.

As the silence around the case grows louder, families of the detained officers have begun crying out. Several spouses claim their loved ones are being held without access to lawyers, denied visits, and moved between detention centres without notice.

While authorities initially dismissed claims of a coup plot as rumours, a recent statement from Defence Headquarters has now confirmed that allegations of an attempt to overthrow the government form part of the ongoing investigation.

For now, the walls are closing in, the truth is unfolding slowly — and Nigeria is watching closely. 👀⚠️
