“Coup Plot Exposed!” Military Wraps Probe, Fingers Officers Accused of Targeting Tinubu Govt

Fresh tension has hit Nigeria’s political space as the military officially closed its investigation into an alleged coup plot — and the outcome is anything but quiet.

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that several military officers arrested back in October 2025 have now been indicted following a detailed probe into claims of indiscipline and attempts to undermine the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Monday, January 26, 2026, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, revealed that the investigation findings have been forwarded to the appropriate authorities in line with military rules.

According to the military, the probe uncovered actions by some officers that sharply violated the ethics, values, and professional standards expected within the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Among the most explosive allegations: activities interpreted as moves against constitutional authority.

The statement emphasized that the investigation followed strict internal procedures and carefully reviewed every detail surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel. Those found to have a case to answer will now face military judicial panels, where they are expected to be tried under the Armed Forces Act and other service laws.

While the military stopped short of naming individuals or detailing punishments, the announcement alone has stirred whispers across security and political circles.

For now, the message from Defence Headquarters is clear: the era of silent disloyalty is over — and anyone caught crossing the line will answer for it. 🎖️⚖️
