Outrage is boiling over after political activist Mahdi Shehu launched a blistering attack on President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and top government officials over what he called their deafening silence following the kidnapping of 170 people in Kajuru, Kaduna State.
Shehu didn’t hold back. In a fiery post shared on X, he questioned why none of Nigeria’s most powerful leaders bothered to visit Kajuru after the mass abduction — an incident that sent shockwaves through local communities.
According to him, while families of the kidnapped wait in fear and uncertainty, the nation’s leaders appear more interested in political ceremonies and party celebrations.
His anger was sparked by reports that Vice President Shettima was heading to Plateau State for the reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the ruling APC — an event Shehu dismissed as trivial compared to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Kaduna.
“Not Tinubu. Not Shettima. Not Akume. Not Christopher,” Shehu wrote, stressing that none of them showed up in Kajuru despite the scale of the tragedy.
In one of his most biting remarks, he suggested that the abducted victims simply don’t count in today’s Nigeria, hinting at a broader culture of indifference amid widespread violence and insecurity.
He capped his reaction with a sharp jab at the political spectacle in Plateau, sarcastically welcoming the governor to what he called his “final destination.”
As kidnappings and violence continue to haunt many parts of the country, Shehu’s comments have reignited public anger — and raised an uncomfortable question: when politics calls, who speaks for the victims? 😡🇳🇬
