The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will run from January 26 to February 28 at all approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made the announcement on Saturday in Lagos during a meeting with Commissioners for Education ahead of the UTME and Direct Entry exercises. He explained that the sale of UTME application documents (ePINs) will begin earlier, running from January 19 to February 26, ahead of the actual registration period.
The registrar also outlined other important dates:
- Mock examination selection closes: February 16
- Direct Entry (DE) application document sale & ePIN vending: March 2 – April 25
Oloyede emphasized that UTME results for underage candidates will only be released after a complete evaluation, ensuring proper assessment for age waiver requests.
To ensure transparency, all CBT centres will be monitored live from JAMB headquarters, and any centre whose registration activities cannot be verified may have payments withheld, and registrations invalidated. Currently, 924 centres have been provisionally listed and will undergo a final accreditation test before participating in the UTME.
Key guidelines for candidates include:
- No service charge beyond the approved registration fees
- Candidates will not be posted to towns outside their selected choices
- Full disclosure of previous registration and admission history is mandatory; failure to do so may lead to sanctions
- Age requirement: Candidates must be at least 16 by September 30, 2026. Underage candidates will face rigorous evaluation, including scoring a minimum of 80% in UTME/A’Level, PUTME, SSCE, and exceptional candidate assessments
Prof. Oloyede urged candidates to register early to secure preferred towns and avoid complications. The 2025 UTME registration promises to be tightly monitored and strictly regulated to ensure a fair and efficient process for all applicants.
