“Most Aren’t Worth Influencing” – Prince Eke Calls Out Celebrities Over Silence on Bad Governance

Nollywood actor Prince Eke has openly criticized celebrities for failing to speak against corruption and bad governance in Nigeria.

In a recent Instagram post, Eke slammed his colleagues, stating that many are motivated by personal gain rather than the welfare of the country. He noted that some actors and musicians remain silent because they are waiting for politicians to “throw them a few peanuts” so they can perform at campaigns.

“The earlier you understand that most of these so-called celebrities are not worth being influenced by, the better for you. Actors and musicians alike watched as Nigeria drowned in corruption and bad governance, and kept their mouths shut… Many of them are broke, desperate, and perfectly willing to sell their conscience to the highest bidder. After all, conscience no dey put food for their table.”

Eke emphasized that if Nigeria had a functional system, many celebrities would still earn royalties from movies they acted in decades ago. Instead, he claims, they choose to line up with the same politicians responsible for the country’s failings.

The actor has previously voiced concerns over the promotion of mediocrity on social media and has reminded fans of the importance of self-care and personal well-being. In addition, he has shared personal experiences, including surviving a week-long ordeal in a kidnapper’s den, highlighting the struggles he has endured both on and off-screen.

Prince Eke’s latest post serves as a sharp reminder to his followers to critically evaluate celebrity influence and the motives behind their public stances—or silence—on national issues.
