“I Would Rather Be Mocked Than Protect My Image” – Tonto Dikeh Responds After Backlash Over Deliverance Video

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has spoken out following criticism over her viral deliverance video, insisting that her spiritual mission outweighs concern for public opinion.

On Instagram, Tonto said that the assignment God placed upon her is too important to be distracted by backlash. She emphasized that Jesus needs no defense from humans and that she would rather endure mockery, ridicule, or even danger than silence the name of her Savior.

“I EVANGELIST TONTO DIKEH WOULD RATHER BE MOCKED, RIDICULED, OR EVEN SLAIN THAN SILENCE THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO SAVED ME. I REFUSE TO HIDE GOD TO PROTECT MY IMAGE BEFORE MERE MORTALS,” she wrote.

The controversy began after Tonto conducted deliverance at a school, targeting a student in a video she later shared. Critics, including activist Very Dark Man and actress Doris Ogala, condemned the act as inappropriate, raising concerns about the use of children in such content. Others, like comedian I Go Save, criticized her focus on individual deliverances instead of addressing broader societal issues.

Unfazed, Tonto posted more clips from the session, expressing gratitude for being chosen as a vessel to serve God. She reassured her followers that her eyes remain on her spiritual assignment, not on the opinions of detractors.

“IF IT COMES TO IT, I WILL WEAR MOCKERY LIKE PERFUME AND CARRY REPROACH LIKE A CROWN, BECAUSE HE IS WORTH IT ALL… THE WORLD IS NOT FIGHTING ME, THE KINGDOM OF HELL IS, AND I UNDERSTAND THIS.”

Despite the backlash, Tonto remains committed to her mission, emphasizing that true strength and victories are forged through prayer, not public approval.
