Nigerian media personality Denrele Edun has firmly reminded fans and critics that legends don’t need to “resurrect” as he marked over three decades in showbiz.
The flamboyant presenter took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, March 8, 2026, to celebrate International Women’s Day while honoring the woman who raised him—his mother. Draped in red, Denrele wrote about embracing both masculinity and femininity:
“Masculinity told me to shrink. Femininity told me to fly. Guess which one I listened to?”
His post drew a reaction from an X user who claimed: “Bobrisky don leave Naija, Old taker don resurrect.”
Denrele was quick to respond:
“Legends don’t resurrect. They never left the stage!
P.S: This ‘old taker’ started out in professional showbiz 32 years ago. 1994, KidiVision 101 on NTA Network. 3 Decades of Exposure, Expertise and Experience.
This ‘old taker’ is like AIR, he’ll always be HERE!”
The media personality’s career spans over 30 years, beginning in 1994, and he has remained a fixture in Nigerian entertainment. Over the years, he has faced personal and professional challenges, including being misjudged because of his flamboyant style, but he has maintained a lasting presence in the industry.
Denrele has also shared stories of his early hustle, from being a cage dancer at the African Shrine to navigating the industry while in university. He has been unapologetically himself, addressing controversies with wit and confidence, and continues to command respect as one of Nigeria’s iconic media figures.
