VeryDarkMan GOES OFF, Says Wizkid’s Grammy is “Beyoncé’s Gift” & Calls Out Fans for Insulting Legend

Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has ignited a fiery debate, launching a scathing critique against superstar Wizkid for what he calls the disrespect of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.

Amid the ongoing feud between Wizkid and Fela’s son, Seun Kuti, VDM released a viral video lambasting a culture in Nigeria that dismisses pioneers as “past glory.” He listed legends like 2Face Idibia, Psquare, Asa, and others, arguing they deserve idolatry, not insults.

VDM’s core grievance targets Wizkid’s role in the clash, claiming the singer’s comments prompted his fans to hurl insults at Fela’s legacy. He insisted disagreements are normal but should be handled with more respect.

The activist then took direct aim at the popular argument comparing Wizkid’s Grammy to Fela’s legacy. He bluntly dismissed Wizkid’s 2021 Grammy win (for Best Music Video on Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl”) as largely “influenced by Beyoncé,” not a reflection of solo artistry.

To underline Fela’s global stature, VDM noted that Beyoncé herself has paid tribute by performing Fela’s “Zombie”—a song inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2025. Fela is also slated for a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.

In contrast, VDM praised Burna Boy and Tems, stating their Grammy wins were based on pure individual artistic merit.

He also defended Fela’s controversial personal life, questioning why global historical figures with similar histories are revered while Fela is judged harshly.

VDM’s final verdict was unequivocal: Wizkid, musically and artistically, has not surpassed Fela Kuti or the Kuti dynasty. He declared the family’s influence on African music and global culture remains unmatched by today’s stars, closing a passionate plea for the respect of legends.
