Fayose Alleges Tinubu Told Makinde to Air Political Grievances Publicly

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has claimed that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde was advised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take his political grievances to the public during a meeting at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.

According to Fayose, Makinde attended the meeting with Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang. He alleged that President Tinubu made it clear he would only discuss official matters relating to Oyo State.

“The President told him clearly that if it was about official matters regarding Oyo State, he would listen,” Fayose stated.

Fayose further claimed that when Makinde raised political concerns, particularly his public assertions that Tinubu was seeking to establish a one-party system, the President reportedly drew a line. Tinubu allegedly advised Makinde to return to the media if he wished to discuss political issues.

Fayose also suggested that Tinubu informed Makinde he was not expecting any political support from him ahead of the 2027 general elections, and reaffirmed his support for his party and allies.

The former Ekiti governor added that Tinubu reaffirmed his relationship with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stating any disagreement between Makinde and Wike was a personal matter.

Fayose claimed the outcome of the meeting explained why Makinde later expressed comfort remaining in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also questioned whether Makinde had returned the ₦30 billion intervention fund reportedly received following the 2023 Ibadan explosion.
