Nollywood powerhouse Funke Akindele is opening up about the hard work and determination that brought her cinematic dreams to life. Sharing insights on her Twitter page, Funke explained that achieving success wasn’t instant — it took learning, praying, and strategically re-evaluating and re-executing her plans. This process, she says, turned her blockbuster film Behind The Scenes into a reality.
“My journey didn’t start in a day. It took learning, praying, and choosing to restrategise, re-evaluate, re-execute. That’s how Behind The Scenes became a reality. Thank you, Mr. Patrick Lee. I’m truly honoured. Thank you, FANmily. I’ll keep telling African stories with passion and authenticity,” Funke shared.
Recently, the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) recognised her remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry. Funke expressed gratitude, dedicating her awards to every creative who dares to dream big and stay consistent.
The box office queen also shared a humbling moment with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who watched her movie, reminding her that commitment and consistency can make your work speak in places you never imagined. Funke also met HRH Alh Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari in an emotional courtesy visit, appreciating the warm reception.
Her 2025 blockbuster grossed N2.1 billion in just a month, a feat she credits to God’s favour and relentless hard work. Reflecting on her 27-year career, Funke advises young creatives that growth often happens outside comfort zones, and success comes from hard work, focus, and consistency.
