“‘You’re Very Disrespectful!’ — Yul Edochie Blasts Arise TV Anchor Rufai Oseni, Drags Old BRT Drama Back Online

Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked fresh online controversy after publicly criticizing television journalist Rufai Oseni over his interview style on national television.

Taking to Instagram, the actor accused the Arise Television anchor of being disrespectful to guests during interviews and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere in the studio.

Edochie questioned the journalist’s approach to hosting discussions, arguing that interviewers should ensure their guests feel respected and at ease rather than pressured or embarrassed during live broadcasts.

While expressing his displeasure, the actor also referenced a past incident involving Oseni in Lagos, where the broadcaster was reportedly caught driving in a restricted Lagos Bus Rapid Transit lane.

According to Edochie, Oseni initially reacted angrily when confronted by officials and allegedly mentioned contacting the governor before later apologising after a video of the situation surfaced online.

The actor used the incident to question Oseni’s moral authority to challenge politicians and other public figures during interviews.

He further criticized the journalist for allegedly telling a guest during a program that they could leave the studio if they felt uncomfortable — a comment Edochie described as insulting and unprofessional.

Beyond the media criticism, the actor also used the moment to defend the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to give the government more time to address the country’s challenges.

Edochie emphasized that Tinubu remains Nigeria’s president and deserves respect, adding that progress takes time and cannot happen overnight.

His remarks have since stirred intense debate online, with supporters backing his criticism of media conduct while others argue that tough questioning is part of responsible journalism.
