Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, popularly known as Toyo Baby, has voiced strong concerns over the viral “Holy Spirit, carry me” trend currently dominating social media.
The phrase has recently become a popular meme across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter (X), where users create humorous videos and AI-generated clips claiming the Holy Spirit is “carrying” them in funny situations.

Reacting to the trend, the actress expressed discomfort with how the sacred phrase is being turned into a form of entertainment. According to her, while it is perfectly acceptable for believers to genuinely seek the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit in their lives, using the phrase casually for jokes and online “cruise” strips it of its spiritual meaning.
Olayode reportedly said the constant misuse of the phrase in skits and memes deeply bothers her, adding that the trend has become overwhelming to the point it makes her feel sick.

The actress, who is widely known for openly practicing and speaking about her Christian faith, urged Nigerians to be more mindful about how they handle sacred expressions in public spaces, including social media.

She further reminded followers that while online content can be entertaining, there should still be a clear boundary between humour and respect for spiritual matters.
