Kajuru Kidnapping Heart-Rending, Alarming – Southern Kaduna Christians

The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) has condemned the recent kidnapping of 177 people from Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State, describing the incident as heart-rending, alarming, and unacceptable.

Its Chairman, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, noted that this is the first time in the region’s history that members of three different Christian denominations were abducted in a single day during church services.

The association highlighted that the Kajuru abduction adds to the growing list of unresolved kidnappings in Southern Kaduna, including in Kauru, Kachia, and other vulnerable communities, where families continue to live in agony over their missing loved ones.

Call for Action

The SKCLA urged the Kaduna State Government, security agencies, and relevant authorities to intensify efforts for the immediate and unconditional release of the Kajuru victims. They also called for decisive action to end the recurring cycle of kidnappings in the region.

Spiritual Response

As a spiritual initiative, the association has declared a two-day fasting and prayer programme, based on Psalm 57:2–3, for the safe return of all abducted persons across Southern Kaduna.

  • The fasting begins on Friday, January 24, 2026, and will conclude with a special prayer session in all churches across the region on Sunday.
  • The initiative is intended as a united cry for mercy, protection, and the safe return of those in captivity.

Apostle Dr. Kure emphasized that this demonstrates rare unity among believers across denominations and encouraged all Christians in Southern Kaduna and beyond to participate wholeheartedly.

He further appealed to the wider Nigerian society to stand in solidarity with affected communities, particularly families in Kajuru, Kauru, Kachia, and other flashpoints, stating:

“We will not be silent in the face of evil, neither will we lose hope. We trust God for divine intervention, and we continue to demand accountability and concrete action from those entrusted with the security of lives and property.”
