Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Olakunle Churchill has finally addressed the buzzing controversy surrounding a viral billboard featuring him, his ex-wife Tonto Dikeh, and their son.
The large billboard, spotted at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, was erected in celebration of their son’s 10th birthday. However, social media quickly went into overdrive, with many assuming Churchill personally sponsored the public display — sparking mockery and sympathy comments directed at his wife, Rosy Meurer.
Now, Churchill is setting the record straight.
According to him, he had nothing to do with erecting the billboard. He explained that the gesture came from a close friend who wanted to honour his son on his milestone birthday. To back up his claim, he shared screenshots of chats showing the friend clearly stating that the billboard was a birthday gift.
Observers believe the clarification was a move to shield his marriage from unnecessary tension, especially given the online reactions that followed.
The birthday itself was a star-studded affair. The former couple came together to celebrate their son in grand style, with notable guests including businessman Obi Cubana and singer Teni, among other celebrities.
During the celebration, Tonto publicly appreciated Churchill for being a present father and extended goodwill prayers to him and his family — a moment that warmed hearts but also fueled speculation.
Shortly after, Rosy Meurer stirred conversation online when eagle-eyed followers noticed she had unfollowed her husband on social media following the joint celebration.
In response, Rosy released a series of videos debunking long-standing rumours — including claims that she “snatched” Churchill from Tonto. She maintained that she met her husband independently and had no prior relationship with Tonto. She further insisted she was aware of the birthday reunion before it became public and remains fully supportive.
In a live chat with media personality Daddy Freeze, Rosy reiterated that there was never a formal introduction of Tonto as Churchill’s wife to her and disclosed that Churchill himself encouraged her to address the narratives publicly.
