Officials of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State were reportedly caught in a well-planned ambush by suspected bandits while on a mission to reunite recently freed villagers.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the attack happened on Monday as the team, including the LG Chairman, was travelling along the Kunchin Kalgo–Danjibga route. The assailants seemed to have prior knowledge of the convoy’s movement, laying in wait along the road.
Makama’s post on X stated that after the ambush, some members of the entourage were trapped in Danjibga, with fears that a few had been kidnapped. Several vehicles were reportedly set on fire during the attack.
Reinforcements have been dispatched to secure the release of those trapped and restore order. Security forces have reportedly stepped up operations in the area, while efforts continue to determine the full scale of the incident.
