Nollywood star IK Ogbonna has stepped into the drama storm between social media personalities VDM and Mitchy, and he’s not holding back. The actor is calling for strict regulation of social media, warning that today’s online world rewards foolishness while ignoring substance.
On Instagram, Ogbonna blasted the chaos, noting there’s no parental guidance or accountability online. “Clout has become currency, and money has blinded many,” he said. He questioned who will regulate the regulators, stressing that blogs and high-traffic pages must take responsibility for the content they amplify — because what’s promoted shapes minds.
Ogbonna isn’t alone in his frustration. Actress Mary Njoku expressed shock at the noise and trivialities dominating social media, lamenting how distraction has replaced focus and meaningful direction. Meanwhile, actress Omotola Ekeinde warned that trending should never become an obsession, reminding users not to become slaves to the algorithm.
Comedian Ayo Makun also weighed in, highlighting the irony: fools are celebrated for pleasing the crowd, while the wise are criticized for speaking truth. Together, these voices are sending a wake-up call: fame and clout are fleeting, but the impact of reckless online behavior can last.
The VDM-Mitchy saga may be the latest example, but the bigger picture is clear — the online world is out of control, and stars are urging us to think twice before getting swept away by clout and chaos.
