The Nigeria government has issued an urgent security advisory for Nigerians living in Iran and neighboring Gulf countries following escalating military actions in the region.
The advisory, released by the Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, highlights that the situation has become volatile due to reported strikes by Israel and the United States against targets in Iran, with subsequent retaliatory actions by Iran affecting some Gulf countries.
Nigerians in the region are strongly urged to:
- Stay extremely vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
- Avoid strategic, military, or government sites which could become flashpoints.
- Limit non-essential travel until the situation stabilizes.
- Stay away from large gatherings and public demonstrations.
- Comply with local authorities at all times.
The government said it is closely monitoring developments and will continue to provide updates as the situation unfolds, emphasizing citizens’ safety as the top priority.
This alert comes amid growing fears of regional instability and the potential risk to foreign nationals in affected areas.
