The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed reports claiming that it increased the registration fees for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).
In a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board described the reports as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.
According to JAMB, the official fees remain:
- ₦7,200 – UTME (without mock examination)
- ₦8,700 – UTME (with mock examination)
- ₦5,700 – Direct Entry (DE)
The Board emphasized that these charges have remained unchanged since 2019.
JAMB further recalled that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction of the UTME application fee from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500, which took effect from the 2019 registration exercise. Since then, the fee structure has not been adjusted — despite increasing operational costs.
The examination body urged candidates and the public to disregard any information suggesting a fee hike, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and affordability in the registration process.
