“They Will Come Back Alive” – Governor Uba Sani Breaks Silence on Kurmin Wali Abduction

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has given a strong assurance that every person abducted from Kurmin Wali village will return home safely, declaring that his government will not rest until the victims are rescued.

The governor made the pledge on Wednesday during a visit to the troubled community, where he led a high-powered delegation of government officials and top security chiefs to sympathise with grieving residents.

According to Sani, intensive rescue operations have been ongoing since the attack.

“For the past two days, we have been working round the clock with the military, DSS, police, and the Office of the National Security Adviser to ensure the quick and safe return of our people,” he said.

He stressed that numbers are irrelevant when human lives are involved, insisting that whether one person or many were taken, the government bears full responsibility.

“This is not about politics or statistics. It is about the sanctity of human life. Even if it is one person, we will go to any length to bring them back,” the governor declared.

Governor Sani condemned individuals attempting to politicise the tragedy, urging Nigerians to focus on compassion and solutions rather than blame games.

In a move to strengthen long-term security, he disclosed plans to liaise with the Minister of Defence to establish a military base in Kurmin Wali, noting that bandits displaced from the Kaduna–Abuja highway have shifted operations into surrounding hinterlands.

“Kurmin Wali is dangerously close to Rijana, one of the country’s banditry hotspots. We must secure this community permanently,” he said.

The governor also announced that:

  • The Kaduna State Government will cover medical bills for those injured during the attack
  • The access road linking Kurmin Wali to the highway will be constructed
  • A Primary Healthcare Centre will be built in the community

Receiving the governor, Agwam Kufana, Chief Dauda Titus, revealed that he was in church when he received news of the attack and explained why the community initially avoided giving figures.

“We did not speak because we didn’t even know how many people were taken. We only confirmed that there was an attack,” he said.

He appealed for urgent road construction, noting that what should be a 10-minute drive now takes over 30 minutes due to poor access.

Also speaking, SOKAPU President, Engr. Emmanuel Tabara, praised Governor Sani for being the first sitting governor to visit Kurmin Wali, describing his response as decisive and compassionate.

“Even with conflicting reports, you acted. That shows leadership,” Tabara said, adding that the people stand firmly behind the governor and rejecting claims that the incident would affect his political standing.

As prayers continue and security operations intensify, residents of Kurmin Wali cling to the governor’s words — hoping they soon turn into joyful reunions.
